Sportrack Equestrian Surfaces

Riding Arena Stabilising Fibres

You can add surface stabilising fibres to a riding arena for a number of reasons.  They hold many benefits for horse and rider.  Simply putting down sand is not enough if the horse is to be jumping and doing a lot of heavy work. Riding arena stabilising fibres are used to help improve the consistency of the surface.

Sand is a good base for a riding arena but it can absorb too much water.  Sand alone will cause your horse to’ ride deep’, which means the horse is riding in the sand rather than on top of it. Mixing riding arena stabilising fibres helps your horse work on top of the surface.

The fibres are made from synthetic materials that are mixed with the sand.  These aid drainage and provide a good footing for your horse during movement.  Synthetic fibres also help retain some moisture which is important because it helps keep the surface firm.

Advantages of these stabilisers when it comes to riding your horse are that you will often find your horse will feel more confident on firmer ground.

If you are a dedicated rider they will allow you to ride all year round, even during periods of frost.

The stabilisers used by Sportrack are environmentally friendly. We have two types; Eco-Fibres and Pro-Fibres.
